How to read a tide table
Heights are feet above mean lower low water (MLLW), the datum on NOAA nautical charts, so a negative low tide is lower than the chart shows. Most Atlantic and Pacific stations see two highs and two lows a day; much of the Gulf of Mexico sees one. Times are the station's local time. Reference stations (REF) are harmonic predictions from a long water-level record; subordinate stations (SUB) are derived from a nearby reference station with time and height offsets, which NOAA publishes and each page lists.
